A dramatic motor vehicle accident on February 14, 2025, shook up Schoharie County, as a pickup truck plunged off a bridge and landed in a small creek. The terrifying scene unfolded just before noon on State Route 30, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting a rapid response from local authorities.

At 11:55 a.m., Forest Ranger France rushed to the scene, where the truck was precariously stuck in the creek, and two occupants were trapped inside. One of them managed to escape on their own, but the other remained in critical condition. Rangers, along with a Trooper from the New York State Police, quickly jumped into action, helping Schoharie County Paramedics stabilize the first injured passenger. The team worked together seamlessly to secure her on a backboard and rush her to safety, all while dealing with the terrifying circumstances of the wreckage.
But the story didn’t end there. The second passenger remained trapped in the wreckage, requiring immediate extrication. Middleburgh Fire Department and Schoharie County Paramedics worked tirelessly to free him from the wreck, placing him on a backboard and safely getting him into an ambulance for treatment.
As the rescue team focused on saving lives, Ranger France, NYSP, and Middleburgh Fire Department members took charge of traffic control, ensuring that emergency responders could work without additional hazards. After all resources were cleared from the scene, the truck was finally removed from the creek, and the road was cleared, leaving the community in awe of the efficiency and teamwork displayed in such a critical situation.
In just under two hours, the combined efforts of local authorities and first responders averted a tragedy, ensuring that both victims received the medical attention they desperately needed.
This heroic rescue highlights the invaluable work of local emergency services in Schoharie County, where no challenge is too great when lives are on the line. We’re thankful for the swift action taken to prevent further injuries, and it serves as a reminder of how crucial community collaboration can be in times of crisis.
